Los Angeles web design companies, compared by what you actually get

A way to sort the LA web design field in an afternoon, and our own price and process printed so you can test us the same way.

Or call (903) 636-7511. Our AI receptionist answers any hour and can put you through to Maurice.

Los Angeles web design companies are easy to find and hard to compare. Search "web design in LA" and you get paid ads, directory lists, agencies with film-studio clients and freelancers working out of a spare bedroom, all on the same screen, most without a price in sight. This page gives you a way to cut that list down to two or three serious options in one sitting, and it puts our own price and process in front of you so you can run Dominion Web Design Pro through the same test.

Short version of who we are: Maurice Johnson writes and builds every site himself, the prices are $497, $997 or $1,997 one time, and you see a free demo of your own site before anyone asks for money.

Web design in Los Angeles covers 88 cities, not one

Los Angeles County has 88 incorporated cities, and the county says about a million more people live in unincorporated areas where the Board of Supervisors acts as the city council. Census estimates put the whole county at about 9.69 million people in July 2025. The city of Los Angeles is the largest piece, at 3,898,747 people in the 2020 census, but it is still only one piece.

The lines do not follow what a visitor might guess. Hollywood and Venice are neighborhoods inside the city of Los Angeles. West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica are separate cities with their own governments. Most of the San Fernando Valley, including Sherman Oaks, Studio City and Van Nuys, is part of the city, while Burbank and Glendale, also in the Valley, are not.

Customers search the way they talk. Someone in Burbank types "electrician Burbank", not "electrician Los Angeles County." A mover based in Van Nuys may get calls from all over the Valley and none from Long Beach. So the first question for any website design in Los Angeles is not color or layout. It is which of these places you really serve, named the way your customers name them.

A five-step shortlist for Los Angeles web design companies

Work through these in order. Each step removes firms, and none of them needs a sales call.

  1. Find a number.Drop any firm that will not put a dollar figure in writing for a project your size. You cannot plan around a price you are not allowed to see.
  2. Ask who writes the words.Whether you are talking to a large Los Angeles web design agency or a freelancer, ask this early. Many builds arrive with stock paragraphs and your business name dropped in. Ask whether a person writes each page for your services and your part of the county, and who that person is.
  3. Read the ownership terms. Some packages lease you a site that goes dark when payments stop. Look for plain language that the finished site and the domain are yours.
  4. Add up two years, not one.Take the build price and add 24 months of every monthly fee. Our Starter is $497 plus $49 a month for hosting and upkeep without the AI agent, which comes to $1,673 over two years. Run that same math on every quote.
  5. See your own business before you pay.Portfolios show other people's sites. Ask for a demo built for your business name and trade. We build one free, with no deposit.

Firms that pass all five are worth a conversation. If one of them fits you better than we do, hire them, and you will have chosen well.

Who hires web design firms in Los Angeles

Mostly small operations. In February 2025 the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation's chief executive said 94% of all companies in the county have fewer than 20 employees. A county policy document from 2020 went further down the scale, reporting that 42% of county businesses had five or fewer employees and only about 4% had more than 100.

Those are the businesses this page is written for: a family taqueria, a two-chair salon, a studio photographer, a mobile mechanic, a bookkeeper with a home office. The agencies with long lists of entertainment and tech clients are built for budgets these owners do not have, and that is fine; it just means the comparison should start with businesses like yours, not with awards.

What a small LA business site has to do

A photographer needs a gallery that loads fast on a phone and says plainly which cities they will drive to. A restaurant needs hours, a menu as real text and a map. A contractor needs a page per job type and the list of towns covered. In every case the phone number sits at the top, one tap away, because in a market this size the customer who cannot reach you in ten seconds calls the next result.

The paperwork behind the city name

The patchwork of cities shows up in licensing too, and it is worth knowing before you decide what your site claims. The city of Los Angeles requires everyone conducting business there to hold a Business Tax Registration Certificate from its Office of Finance, and that includes businesses based outside the city that work inside it seven or more days a year. Registered owners whose total gross receipts are $100,000 or less can qualify for a small business exemption if they renew on time.

The neighbors run their own systems. Santa Monica issues its own business license. Burbank asks every business that works in the city to register for its business tax, and some kinds of business also need a separate regulatory license. Glendale has no business license or business tax, but asks businesses with a physical location there for an annual Business Registration Certificate. None of this is legal advice; the point for your website is simpler. If your site says you serve a city, be ready to work there properly, and list only the cities where you do.

Los Angeles web design companies and the local results map

Google says local results depend mainly on relevance, distance and prominence: how well a business matches the search, how far it is from the searcher, and how well known it is from links, articles, directories and reviews. Across a county this spread out, distance alone means a Torrance plumber and a Pasadena plumber are rarely shown to the same person.

Relevance is the part you can shape. A site with a real page about each service and each city you serve gives Google something specific to match. That is why our Pro package includes ten city pages, each written about its own town, and Agency begins with keyword research across your service area before writing a page for each town and service pair worth having, usually 30 to 60 pages. We do not sell page counts; thirty good pages beat a pile of thin ones. Nobody can promise a ranking, so we will not.

  • A page for each city you truly serve, written about that city.
  • Titles, descriptions and a sitemap submitted to Google.
  • Your real service list instead of a generic one.
  • A tap-to-call number and a contact form that emails you every lead.

Where LA owners get no-cost business advice

  • BusinessSource CentersThe city's Economic and Workforce Development Department funds BusinessSource Centers that give free one-on-one consulting and business plan help to new and existing owners.
  • Los Angeles Regional SBDC NetworkHosted by Long Beach City College since 2006 and serving Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, with no-cost consulting and low-cost training.
  • SCORE Los AngelesFree one-on-one mentoring from volunteer business leaders across the county, from Pasadena and Glendale to Santa Monica and Torrance, plus business workshops.
  • Los Angeles Area Chamber of CommerceFounded in 1888, the regional chamber works on advocacy and runs business programs for its members.

Any of these can help you sharpen what you want from a website before you talk to a single designer.

Common questions

How do I choose between web design companies in Los Angeles?

Shrink the list before you take any calls. Keep only the companies that show a price or answer with one in writing, then ask each one who writes the words on your pages, who owns the finished site and domain, and what you will pay each month in year two. Last, ask to see a site built for your own business before you sign. Most owners end up with two or three real options, and the decision gets easy.

How much does website design in Los Angeles cost for a small business?

It depends on who builds it. Larger LA agencies often quote custom projects only after a discovery call, and many add a monthly retainer. Dominion Web Design Pro prints its prices: Starter is $497, Pro is $997 and Agency is $1,997, each paid one time. Hosting, maintenance and updates are included while you keep the AI agent; without it they are $49 a month.

What is the best web design company in Los Angeles for a small business?

There is no single best one, whatever a ranking list says. The best fit for a five-person shop is a designer whose price is in reach, who writes pages about your actual services and city, and who hands you the keys when the job is done. Use the shortlist steps on this page on every firm you consider, including us.

My business is in Glendale, Pasadena or Long Beach. Should my site say Los Angeles?

Say where you really are first. Glendale, Pasadena, Long Beach, Burbank and Santa Monica are separate cities, and customers often search them by name. If you also serve the city of Los Angeles, a page written about that work makes sense. A page for every town in the county does not, unless you truly take jobs there.

Can a web design agency outside Los Angeles build a site for an LA business?

Yes. The work is a conversation about your business, then pages you review by link, and none of it needs a shared zip code. Dominion Web Design Pro builds from East Texas. You give up face-to-face meetings, and in return you get a printed price and a free demo built for your business before any payment.
